I have a male rabbit and i want to get a female rabbit now i was just wondering because i don't want to get him neutered could i just get the female spaid and leave Eddie un-neutered??
And if not then please explain why? :D
xxxWould it be possible just to get a female rabbit spaid?
Spaying your female rabbit will prevent unwanted offspring and prevent the reproductive organ related cancers in your doe. She should not have phantom pregnancies after three months as her hormones will no longer support it (not to speculate on the psychology of the female rabbit).
Your buck (male) will still be at risk of reproductive cancers (statistically 80% risk by the age of four). He will also be fully able to mate with all the urges of his hormones. This means he will be territorial, and likely to view a neutered female as a rival or lesser male to be bullied.
The best and most successful pairing in my experience is to neuter your buck and then introduce after an appropriate number of weeks (breed dependent, could only be 3-4, could be more) a doe, which can then also be neutered.
A neutered doe/ complete buck pairing MAY work, but is LIKELY to bring fighting, dominance/ bullying issues for the rabbits, heartache and vets bills for you.Would it be possible just to get a female rabbit spaid?
Unfortunately no.
The male bunny you already have would probably continuously mount the female one. Really its the male one that needs to be done. Though 80% of un spayed,no breeding female rabbits over the age of 2 years will contract womb cancer, which if left un treated will kill her. So i would suggest,if you've got enough money, then to get them both done. And Guinea Pigs aren't an option,as like alot of people say the will harm each other, the only time i managed to keep the two together was when both species where under the age of 10 weeks old. So unfortunately to get a female rabbit you would need to get him done, otherwise the females life would be quite frankly horrible, because she would be mounted all the time but would never have kits. But keeping male %26amp; female together that aren't done would of course end in kits, which would multiple in months,as in just over 2 months you could end up with 8 plus young,no including the parents.
Hope this helps.xxx
You are able to get the female rabbit spayed it doesnt do anything however she still could have a fake pregnancy shell act like shes pregnant b/c the male rabbit might try and mount her. If your not planning on breeding the male rabbit I would just advise you to get the male rabbit neutered also.
